Work on your swim technique – It is not just the amount of time in the pool, it is the quality of the time in the pool.  Maybe sure to do a good chunk of your pool warm up working on your swim stroke.  Have someone take a video of you swimming as most likely you think you are swimming much differently.  Find a few key swim drills for technique changes and perform them frequently to change the motor pattern for good.
