Ever since a Linkedin connection recommended the New Balance 730v2 and I purchased it direct from New Balance online, I haven’t tried any other running shoe.  At first, it was extremely difficult to get used to.  For the past couple of years, I have been running on what felt like a cadillac and now for the first time, I was running on what feels like a mustang.

I was also told on LinkedIn that these shoes would be perfect for me because it would teach me how to run correctly by striking my mid-foot instead of my heal.

So when New Balance sent me a pair of W890v3 sneakers to review, I was excited.  I thought they would be very similar to the sneakers that I love.  However, I found that they are very different and give a different running experience.

The toe bed for example is much snugger on your foot than the sneaker I am used to.  However, compared to other brands it’s about the same. So, when you slip your foot into the W890v3’s, it’s not tight but it’s not as full as the 730v2.  Most people will find this sneaker more comfortable for that reason.  In addition, it also has much more cushion inside.  It almost felt plush to me.  The heal is 8mm and has shock absorbers to enable the runner to strike midfoot. The shoe is geared for elite and everyday runners and inspired by olympic athlete, Jenny Barringer Simpson.

I love the look of the W890v3.  It’s modern and certainly eye catching.  It has interesting design details on the upper material, overlays, aglets, and throughout the shoe. The forefoot has a secure, seamless fit.

The shoe is lightweight, weighing only 7.65 oz and has ABZORB® Crash Pad which allows enhanced motion control and stability within the heel. Further, the REVlite midsole provides premium responsiveness and durability at a 30% lighter weight than other foams with comparable performance.

The New Balance W890sp3 has a lot of bounce and I find it a good choice for “run as you like” and recovery runs.  I also find they are perfect for all other types of aerobic activities and, they look cool too!  The sneakers retail for $109.99.
