New Cycling Apparel from Pearl Izumi

New Cycling Apparel from Pearl Izumi

Pearl Izumi is one of my favorite brands. I have been wearing their running and cycling apparel since I started the sport nearly four years ago.

Recently, I had the opportunity to sample the Pearl Izumi Pursuit Cycling top and the Pearl Izumi Escape Cycling Bib.

Pursuit Cycling Top:

The top is skin tight fitting for optimal aerodynamic speed and reduction in drag. The fabric has mesh panels on the front for ventilation. It’s made of polyester and has 3M Scotchlite reflective material so that you will be seen by motorists. The garment is perfect in temperatures between 60 and 100 degrees.

It’s made extremely well with every ounce of detail. It’s comfortable to wear and the sleeves, which are short sleeves, snug you tight, but not that tight. I found it incredibly soft and pleasing to wear.

The retail price is $150 at

W P.R.O. Escape Bib Short:

I had never worn bib cycling shorts before and I thought I wouldn’t like them, but to be totally honest here, I didn’t feel the bib at all. I thought that it would bother me, but it didn’t. The smooth texture of the fabric just made the bib feel incredibly comfortable.

What’s interesting about this bib is that the chamois is big and really provides that support you need, especially on a long ride. The only issue I had was that I felt myself slipping a little, but I was riding a time trial bike. On a road bike, I don’t think I would have that issue.

The P.R.O. Bib Short has special moisture management so that you stay dry. The inseam is 8″. It also has a 4-way stretch to keep you mobile and active.

The chamois has maximum support. It’s smooth next to the skin, it’s free floating, has high-density 3 layer suspension core and it’s pre-shaped and curved to the body. I love that it’s highly breathable to keep skin dry so that you don’t chafe as much.

The bib also has 3M Scotchlite reflective materials and is made of lycra, nylon and polyester.

Again, this garment is made with the finest fabrics, it’s snug so that it’s aerodynamic and it’s extremely comfortable, especially the bottom when it snugs your thighs.

Retail price: $170.
