I am a 63-year-old endurance athlete who enjoys doing road races and triathlons. I was diagnosed with end-stage arthritis in my right knee several years ago, and I know knee replacement surgery will be in my future when the time comes. When I was asked to demo Kneemo, I was intrigued if this was a product that could help extend my running life, as I have been wondering if I should limit my races to 10k or less due to the pain in my knee.
Kneemo
While I have taken several steps to mitigate the pain in my knee, the only experience I have with any product that you put directly on your knee is KT tape. Applying KT tape requires time and knowledge of how to arrange the tape for optimal effectiveness. Once on, it isn’t easy to adjust and still be effective. Kneemo is simple to get on and easy to adjust. Kneemo also differs from tape in that it works by stimulating blood flow with gentle vibrations to your knee, which you can adapt. I demoed Kneemo over several months at various distances, including interval workouts on a track. I alternated between runs with the kneemo and runs without it to confirm my impressions.
Using Kneemo
There are three areas in which I felt a distinct improvement from using Kneemo. The first is the initial mile or two of a run that aging athletes like myself need to get loose and up to a comfortable cruising speed.
Kneemo helped me reduce the distance needed by as much as half of what it usually took without it. The second area is toward the tail end of longer runs when the cumulative pounding on your legs takes its toll. Kneemo helped reduce the pain in my knee and kept it at a more manageable level.
The third, and most valuable aspect of this product, in my opinion, are those mornings when you wake up and your aching joints feel like they are 25 years older than the rest of your body and you really don’t feel like you want to, or even can, go out for a run. On those days, Kneemo helped me get going and complete a workout.
Would I Recommend Kneemo?
In the opinion of this average age-grouper, the Kneemo is a product I would recommend, especially if you have reached AARP status and experience knee pain daily.
Cost and Where to Buy Kneem
I asked Ray Cushmore to write this review after receiving the Kneemo in the mail. Unfortunately, my doctor informed me that the vibration could damage the implant. Ray graciously accepted the challenge to investigate it.
Kneemo costs $499 and can be purchased online at https://thekneemo.com/.
