If you’re an athlete or a triathlete, especially if you go the distance, you understand the importance of proper nutrition and supplementation. One brand that stands out for its innovative products is GU Energy Labs.

Here, I review two of their popular products – GU Chews and GU Tablets.

GU Energy Chews (Gummies)

Gu Chews

GU Energy Chews, also known as GU Gummies, are designed to supply energy and key nutrients to keep you feeling strong and energized during all types of activities. They come in a variety of flavors, each packed with energy-dense calories, electrolytes, and amino acids.

Users have likened the taste of these chews to the gummy snacks of childhood, adding a tinge of nostalgia to a workout routine. The chews also boast a robust, flavor-packed taste that stays true to the flavor indicated on the wrapper. Some flavors even mimic the taste of fruit juice, making them enjoyable to consume.

The chews offer ease of consumption during runs or bike rides.

My Take

Orange Chew

I love the flavor of the Gu Energy Chews. As mentioned earlier, they remind me of a time when I went to the candy store around the corner from my home to see Manny, the owner. He had gummies and chews that tasted similar. So it was a familiar flavor that reminded me of my childhood.

I’ve been using the chews for long swims by putting the pack in my buoy. In addition to that, they come along with me during a ride and run as well. I love the taste and feel they give me that boost of energy that I get from the Gu Gels.

GU Hydration Drink Tablets

Gu tablets

GU Hydration Drink Tabs provide a boost to your water by supplementing it with electrolytes for improved performance and recovery. Each drink tab contains just 10 calories, in addition to 320 milligrams of sodium and 55 milligrams of potassium to help maintain fluid balance and delay fatigue by replacing electrolytes depleted during exercise.

Like the Chews, they come in six different flavors. The Strawberry Hibiscus is the only one that also has caffeine. The Tabs have 320 mg of sodium and 55 mg of potassium.

You take a tab and place it in 16 oz of water. It dissolves and you can drink up.

My Take

Gu Tabs

The drink is slightly fizzy but it definitely has the flavor of the tablet.  I found it quite refreshing and it wasn’t as sweet as some of the other powders or gels I tried in the past. The combination of electrolytes really hits the spot after a long run or bike ride.

Overall, I think that GU Hydration Drink Tabs are an excellent way to add electrolytes to your water without all the added sugar and calories of traditional sports.

If you’re looking for tasty, energy-packed supplements to fuel your workouts, both GU Energy Chews and GU Tabs are excellent choices.
