Galloway Running 5K/10K – Training for Runners and Walkers by Jeff Galloway
Jeff Galloway is an Olympian runner, entrepreneur, author, and speaker. He is an incredible person who I have known for several years. (He even coached me during my 2016 NYC Marathon!) This is Jeff’s newest book and it has up-to-date information in it and is a must for anyone who follows the Galloway method. What I found interesting about this book, which I haven’t seen in his other books, are training plans. For example, if you want to run a 5K in 15 minutes or if you want to run a 5K in 40 minutes, there is a plan for you! In this book, Jeff also caters to the faster runner.
This book is a complete overhaul of any of his past books. He focuses on speed training, hill repeats, and even what to do prior to your big race. This little book will help you get big results on your next 5K or 10K event. It was well-written and easy to understand. This is a must this holiday season! Still Running – The Art of Meditation in Motion by Vanessa Zuisei Goddard
Years ago, when I represented a woman on Long Island who developed a tape, “Moving Meditation,” at first I thought it was ridiculous but as I have gotten older (and wiser), I realize that she was spot on. So, if you love running, then you need to read this book. It combines running retreats with Zen for grounding your running in meditation. The author teaches you to use mantras and visualizations to bring joy and happiness to your life through running. It’s an interesting read. You can pick it up at Penguin Random House or on Amazon for $16.95.
The Renaissance Diet 2.0 – Your Scientific Guide to Fat Loss, Muscle Gain, and Performance by Dr. Mike Israetel, Dr. Melissa David, Dr. Jen Case, and Dr. James Hoffman
This book is so incredibly detailed and thorough. If you want to learn everything about nutrition and weight loss, this book is for you. It’s a well-written book and a good reference guide for fat loss, muscle gain, and performance goals. This book will teach you what you need to know to create your own diet by using the step-by-step guide on how to modify your diet, manage hunger, and the psychology behind dieting.
