What Keeps You Motivated?

As the new year gets underway, I’ve been thinking a lot about goals for 2019 and ways to stay motivated during the long winter and spring season. Here’s what keeps me motivated. Tell me what keeps you motivated in the comment section below.

In order to do that, I usually register for a few races. I’m sure there will be more throughout the season. So far, this is my race calendar:

  • February – Princess Race in Disney – 13.1
  • March – NYC Half Marathon – 13.1
  • April – St. Anthony’s Triathlon – Olympic Distance
  • May – 40 Mile Bike Tour – NYC
  • May – Bridgehampton Half Marathon – 13.1
  • August – Half Ironman Maine 70.3

So what am I going to do to keep these goals in sight, especially the 70.3 in August?

Blog

For starters, I’m going to continue to blog. Readers have told me that my blogs have helped them in some way. When I hear that, it keeps me motivated and gives me a boost.

MetPro

Secondly, I’m going to stick with MetPro. This concierge program enables me to have a nutrition coach to get me to reach my goals. I’m down 8+ pounds and hope to go down another 5+ pounds by the summer. I’m depending on it for both my nutrition and training. The stronger and healthier I am, the faster (well, maybe) and more prepared I will be to conquer these goals.

New Sneakers

Next, I plan on trying out new sneakers during the year. My son has a pair of Addidas Ultra Boost and I would love to get my hands on a pair to check them out. I also want to check out the newest Brooks, Skechers, New Balance, and Hoka One One. (Can you tell I love sneakers?)

New Gear

One of the other thing that helps me stay motivated is when I get new gear. This year, I bought a new QR Bike and am psyched to take it outdoors. But I also get excited about a new outfit, helmet from Rudy Project or wetsuit from Roka.

Swim Bike Run

I will continue to swim, bike and run every day, and have been working with Danielle Sullivan of Iron Fit Endurance for the past few years. I’m hoping she can help me get to the start line of Maine feeling healthy and strong. And, I’m hoping she can help me get to the finish line! I don’t want to DNF! I want to finish this half Ironman strong!

WeRTriathletes

Being on WeRTriathletes and learning from the experts helps keep me motivated. When I watch or listen to these webinars, I get so inspired to try out what everyone is saying. We have lots of webinars coming up including: Zwift, MetPro, learning about Data from Tim Delss of CBMultisport, and more!

Team Galloway LI

I get inspired by Team Galloway LI, which is the running arm of WeRTriathletes. These guys are incredible and many of them, including me, have overcome obstacles, but that doesn’t stop us. Each and every one of these runners helps get me out every weekend, no matter how cold or hot it is outside. And, for that I’m grateful.

Jeff Galloway 2019

Jeff Galloway has a challenge in 2019, to run 2019 miles (or 2019K or half that for a Bronze medal!). Here’s the link to the information but remember, it’s not only running, it’s walking too! All steps count!

What gets you motivated to continue to train through a long season? Love to hear your thoughts!
